Our position

Why we publish our rates

How we work4 min read

We looked closely at how comparable platforms present pay before deciding how we would. What we found was worth writing down.

What the market does

Across the platforms we studied, pay is consistently the hardest thing to find. Some show a range on the card and nothing on the role page. Others show nothing at all until you have applied, verified your identity, and been matched.

There is a reason for this, and it is not a good one. Information asymmetry favours whoever holds it. If you do not know the range, you cannot tell whether the offer is fair.

What we do instead

Every rate is on the homepage, by field, before you have given us anything. The range for a specific role is on its page. The rate for a specific project is agreed in writing before you start work on it.

That is not generosity. It is a filter. Publishing rates means the people who apply have already decided the number works for them, which is better for everyone involved.

If you do not know the range, you cannot tell whether the offer is fair.

What the rate depends on

Field, mostly. Regulated professions with hard credential requirements sit at the top of our range because that supply is genuinely scarce. Depth of experience and how specialised the project is move you within the band.

What it never depends on is what the client is paying us. Your rate is your rate.

And the rest of it

The same principle drives the other uncomfortable things we publish: what happens if your application is rejected, what happens to your identity documents, why an account gets suspended and how you appeal it.

The people we want are the people who ask those questions before applying. Answering them in public costs us nothing and saves them the trouble.
